    Mitigate the future.
    Adapt the present

EDU_CLIMATE was created to address one of the most urgent challenges of our time: preparing people and education systems to live with the concrete impacts of climate change. While the focus so far has been mainly on mitigation, it is now increasingly clear that another approach must be integrated: adaptation. Because climate change is no longer something to prevent in the future, but a reality we must already deal with today. Adapting means developing practical skills, reducing vulnerability, and learning how to respond effectively to an ever-changing environment.

      Human Causes of Global Warming

Human activities are the main cause of global warming. The use of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas, together with deforestation and intensive agriculture, increases greenhouse gas emissions. These gases trap heat in the atmosphere, causing the Earth’s temperature to rise.

      Extreme Weather Events

There is strong scientific evidence that climate change increases the frequency and intensity of heatwaves, heavy rainfall, droughts, and wildfires. Scientists also use “attribution science” to measure how much global warming has influenced specific extreme events.

    WHAT WE WANT TO ACHIEVE

EDU_CLIMATE brings climate adaptation into vocational education and training (VET), with the aim of developing a structured training pathway at EQF Level 4 focused on climate change adaptation strategies. The project contributes to European objectives related to the green transition and the development of future-ready skills. In this context, the project aims to:

    • make students and teachers more aware and better prepared

    • integrate adaptation strategies into training pathways

    • provide practical tools that can be applied in everyday life and in the workplace

    How the Project Works

The goal is to make adaptation understandable, practical, and easily integrated into educational pathways. EDU_CLIMATE develops practical and accessible tools, including:

An educational app with content and adaptation strategies

Materials and guidelines for training centres

A testing phase to validate and improve the results

Dissemination activities to expand the project’s impact at the European level

    THE CONSORTIUM

We bring together European organisations with complementary expertise in education, sustainability, mobility, and digital innovation.

    TARGET GROUP

EDU_CLIMATE mainly targets VET trainers and learners, helping them understand and apply climate change adaptation strategies in education and everyday life. Trainers will integrate these topics into their courses, while students will learn practical ways to contribute to a more sustainable future, including during internships and workplace experiences. Both groups will test the project materials and use the mobile app developed by the project.
The project also involves VET centres, youth organisations, volunteers, policy makers, stakeholders, and local authorities connected to climate action. These groups will participate in dissemination activities and support the wider impact and quality of the project results.
